Oxford Coaching Practice is a Coaching Consultancy specialising in supporting people in working life. Whether it is to kickstart a new career, return after a break or find a new and better job, we walk "side by side" our clients to help them develop a route to achieve their goals. Our coaching practice uses a mix of innovative and fun coaching methods,  creating an environemnt to deveope  new solutions and ideas  as well as increasing  confidence, motivation and a clear plan on how to get there.

About Us

Looking to kickstart, develop or change your working life?


Oxford Coaching Practice was founded by Jane Henderson, an experienced coach and business leader with a background in marketing, advertising and software development. After 25 years’ experience working in business (multinational corporates as well as smaller SME's), Jane set up Oxford Coaching Practice to help people develop the best careers they can. Having adapted her career several times during her working life, Jane knows first-hand how scary and frustrating it can be to motivate change on your own. No one should feel overcome or isolated whilst making these important choices, the aim of the practice is to support and champion people as they start the process. 


Oxford Coaching Practice works with both companies and individuals. Individuals approach us independently when they are looking for support, perhaps with a change in job or new career, while companies ask us  to support employees with their daily work and career progression. Previous clients include students as they kickstart their careers, graduates as they prepare for first jobs, employees looking to reboot, retrain or return after a break, leaders looking at finessing their experience and teams in organisations wanting to achieve their best.


All Coaching and Mentoring sessions are designed to be fun and interactive but with an understanding that solutions need to be timely and have clear actions for agreed goals. Jane strongly believes the key to a successful career is enjoying what you do. Using a range of different technics, either in groups or one-to-one, Jane encourages Clients to challenge the "obvious" and think out of the box to help identify their most important interests, values and passions. In addition, as a qualified Career Guidance Advisor, Jane works to  identify  transferable skills as well as past experiences, to enable clients to  package them up as a personal "brand" for use in a CV, job applications and networking. 


Every session developed by Oxford Coaching Practice is tailor-made for each individual as an iterative process to ensure clients never stop looking at new ideas. Programmes can include brainstorming new careers, exploring challenges and barriers, employment and training exploration, support with CV and introductory letter writing as well as interview and negotiation practice. When working with teams, sessions can be run as workshops or training or team coaching. The exact details of the programme will be agreed at the introductory meeting as together you agree the outcomes you want to achieve. During a programme, clients have unlimited email and telephone access to their coach for any emerging questions as work progresses towards the goals. By working to understand the specific challenges each individual hopes to address, Oxford Coaching Practice creates personal and effective plans to enable success.


Jane has a MA in Coaching and Mentoring (Oxford Brookes University), is a certified Lego SeriousPlay facilitator and has various qualifications in Career Development and Career Guidance. She is a member of the Association of Coaching.

We run 1-1 coaching sessions embedded with a philosophy of listening, learning and creating ambition across all areas of the session. Challenge and listening is at the heart of everything we do.


We offer tailor made workshops and training programmes to help individuals challenge themselves and rethink how they can influence their own careers. Our aim is to promote a new perspective and thought through this new learning. We use creative techniques to enable a new mind-set away from the normal “day to day”.

Our techniques are based on constructivism learning theory, Gestalt psychology, systemic constellations work and the power of metaphor. With a sense of fun and creativity, we aim to break down barriers and build a collaborative environment. As a group, the workshop thinking becomes interactive encouraging more diverse but relevant solutions to emerge. Sessions are designed around a process of shared problem solving giving everyone a voice in the room and contributions to the solutions.

Our secret weapon is Lego! We often use Lego Serious Play to bring in a different dimension and add a layer of fun to programmes. It is  particularly helpful for enhancing expression and listening to improve creative thinking and communication.

Most importantly, such sessions from Oxford Coaching Practice build confidence, motivation and inspiration enabling individuals to see a new way forward.

Methodology for sessions is varied; it will be tailored to reflect the challenges presented. Examples of working practice include exploration, talking, challenging, practicing, role-play, walking and creativity tools. As much as possible we incorporate a hands-on creative emphasis on activity to ensure a different but fun and interactive experience.


During an exploratory chat we suggest possible options to identify the most effective way forward. There is no charge for our initial conversation, going forward a programme fee will be agreed dependent on the activity proposed. Our work is totally flexible and if ambitions change, we can adapt to make sure you have the best resolution possible.

3. Oxford Coaching Practice will propose the most suitable programme (group and individual) including number of sessions and a summary of fees involved

4. Programmes typically include 6 sessions (60-90 mins every two weeks)
